Carl White’s Life in the Carolinas

When a series of unexplained murders occurs in the normally quiet town of Tarker’s Mill, the residents decide to hunt down the killer. However, many of these vigilantes end up dead, and those who don’t are no closer to finding an assailant. But, when a young wheelchair-using boy named Marty (Corey Haim) encounters a werewolf one night, the pieces begin to come together. Along with his sister and Uncle Red (Gary Busey), Marty begins a mission to capture the werewolf once and for all.

Did you know that the fictional town of Tarker’s Mill used in the film was actual parts of North Carolina? Although the story is set in Maine, the movie was actually filmed in and around Wilmington, North Carolina.

One of the main filming locations for Silver Bullet was the town of Tatum, North Carolina. The town served as the backdrop for the fictional town of Tarker’s Mills, where the werewolf terrorizes the residents. Tatum’s  streets and buildings perfectly captured the small-town atmosphere that the filmmakers were going for.

Another key filming location for Silver Bullet was Burgaw, North Carolina. The town’s rural surroundings and rustic buildings were used to create the outdoor scenes in the movie, including the chase sequences between the werewolf and the young protagonist.

A few scenes in Silver Bullet were shot in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The town’s university campus and bustling downtown area provided the perfect setting for some of the movie’s more lighthearted moments.
